Pathways to Scientific Teaching
Scientific teaching integrates the research model into a learner-centered teaching approach. This course is designed for Postdoctoral Scholars who are interested in learning how to become an effective instructors. Participants will learn to develop and implement state-of-the-art learner-centered instructional materials and teaching strategies for both large and small enrollment undergraduate STEM courses. In this course Postdocs will engage in evidence-based instructional methods using science practices to help students learn core disciplinary ideas to emphasize not only what students learn, but how they use that knowledge. The overall goal is to help Postdocs launch and/or build the teaching component of their careers.
