To show your support and appreciation of our postdocs, we welcome you to stop by the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA) office on the 4th floor of the Student Services Center (SSC) to pick up a Postdoctoberfest button to wear during the month of October and to download and use our Postdoctoberfest zoom background. Buttons will be available starting Tuesday, October 1 during standard GEPA office hours (Tue & Wed from 9 am - 4 pm) while supplies last. |

Postdoc Pizza Party! UCSD postdocs are invited to start their Postdoctoberfest celebrations by enjoying pizza, salad, wings and drinks with their fellow postdocs! Pre-registration by September 29th is required to attend this celebration lunch sponsored by GEPA. RSVP to join us at Dirty Birds and enjoy free lunch, meet new people, and pick up your insulated cooler bag and Postdoctoberfest button.

Professional Headshot Photo Session for UCSD Postdocs To help UCSD postdoctoral scholars make professional connections, GEPA has arranged for a skilled photographer to capture your best angles and provide you with a high-quality digital headshot image. Spaces are limited and will be assigned to UCSD postdoctoral scholars in the order in which they register. Don’t miss your chance to get a free headshot photo to help build your professional brand!

Postdoc Pickleball Social Get ready for a smashing good time at our Postdoc Pickleball Social! Whether you are a seasoned pro or a total beginner, join your fellow postdocs for an afternoon of friendly pickleball matches and socializing. Some paddles will be available, but if you have your own, please bring them along. The specific event location will be shared with registrants in advance of the event. Gaslamp Pub Crawl Get ready to paint the town with your fellow postdocs at our Postdoctoberfest Pub Night Social! If you are looking for a casual evening of drinks and conversation or a bar-hopping adventure, this event has it all. Meet us outside the Bird Rock Coffee stand in front of the Central Campus Trolley Station at 7:00 pm on 10/18 to kick off this memorable evening. We will take the trolley together to the Gaslamp Quarter and explore various bars. Negotiating the Job Offer Whether you are preparing to apply for jobs or have already been offered a position, it is never too early to think about how you will evaluate and negotiate your job offer. In this workshop, Tom Magaldi, PhD, will examine the many variables that exist during the evaluation and negotiation process of job offers including: Knowing how, when and why you should negotiate; Strategies on the negotiation; "What Can" and "What Can Not" be negotiated.
