These resources are offered by the Postdoc Academy. The mission of the Postdoc Academy is to create a comprehensive and flexible professional development program targeting the needs of postdocs to help postdocs develop the transferable skills that will enable their success in a diverse set of careers. • Finding Success as a Postdoc

  • The Postdoc Academy can help guide you in exploring how to transition into a postdoc position and how to set yourself up for success as you build professional relationships, so you can successfully parachute into a postdoc position and hit the ground running. Learn more about the course HERE.

• Strategic Communications 

  • The Postdoc Academy explores the value of strategic communications and the different contexts where those skills can be effectively applied. Learn more about the course HERE.

• Applying Teaching Skills Beyond the Classroom 

  • The Postdoc Academy will review how learning and teaching occur in many contexts outside of the classroom, so you can take away the ability to describe effective teaching skills, understand how they are applicable in multiple professional scenarios, and reflect on the value of applying these skills in the workplace. National Postdoctoral Association

These resources are offered by the National Postdoctoral Association. The National Postdoctoral Association's mission is to improve the postdoctoral experience by supporting a culture of inclusive connection. At the individual, organizational, and national levels, the NPA facilitates enhanced professional growth, raise awareness, and collaborate with stakeholders in the postdoctoral community. • National Postdoctoral Association Affiliate Membership 

  • As the national voice of the postdoctoral community, the NPA is the one national entity representing both postdocs and their institutions. Promoting a culture of inclusion through advocacy, professional development, and a tireless dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion. UCSD postdocs can register for a free NPA affiliate membership and join over 20,000 individuals and 230 organizational NPA members HERE.

• A Postdoc's Guide to Mentorship

  • Understand the importance of mentorship and how to cultivate meaningful mentor-mentee relationships HERE.

Writing Hub

The Writing Hub is one of six inter-connected units within the Teaching + Learning Commons. The Commons is a university-wide resource that supports and facilitates excellence in teaching and learning through integration, connection, and ongoing assessment of initiatives leading to an engaged and inclusive educational environment.

Toward this mission, the Writing Hub promotes faculty and student success through programs, resources, and writing-related expertise that connect writing to deeper learning, enhanced student engagement, and discovery.  You can learn more about the Writing Hub here.

• Academic Job Market Resources

  • The Writing Hub offers several online, self-paced learning modules developed for graduate students and post-docs preparing to go on the academic job market. Learn more HERE.

Engaged Teaching Hub

The Teaching + Learning Commons’ Engaged Teaching Hub is one of six units in the Commons. Engaged Teaching Hub promotes faculty and student success through programs and resources that support faculty and graduate student instructors in their teaching roles.

The Engaged Teaching team collaborates with UC San Diego educators: departments, faculty, and graduate student instructors to design student-centered, evidence-based learning experiences in the classrooms and in other learning spaces. You can learn more about the Engaged Teaching Hub here.

• Postdoc Teaching Program
